Partnero added AI affiliate discovery. Good.
A competitor shipped the feature we think matters most. Here is what it does, where it stops, and what we do differently.
AI affiliate discovery is the feature that turns partner recruiting from a service you buy into software you run, and as of September 2026 Partnero has shipped a working version of it on its paid plans. You paste a product URL, you get a scored list of sites and creators with contact details and suggested outreach, and you send through a connected Gmail account. We tested it with our own product. It does what the page says. This post explains why we think that is good news for every brand that could not afford an agency, where the feature stops, and how our approach differs, with enough detail that you can pick the right tool for this week rather than for a hypothetical future.
What Partnero actually shipped
According to Partnero's pricing page as checked on 2026-09-19, paid plans start at $59 per month and include AI Affiliate Discovery and a directory called Partnero List [1]. The discovery flow, as we experienced it, has four steps.
- You enter the URL of your product. The tool reads the page, infers the category and audience, and builds a search profile.
- It returns a ranked list of candidate affiliates: blogs, review sites, YouTube channels, newsletters. Each has a relevance score, estimated audience indicators and, where available, a contact email or form.
- For each candidate it drafts an outreach message that references the candidate's content and your product.
- With Gmail connected, you send from the tool and it tracks opens and replies in a simple sequence.
That is a full recruiting loop. A year ago the only way to get this was to hire an affiliate agency at a monthly retainer, or to spend evenings with a spreadsheet, a search engine and an email-finding tool. Having it as a button inside the affiliate software you already pay for is a real change in who can run a program.
Why we are glad a competitor did this
We have said since our first post that recruiting is the hard half of a partner program. Tracking and paying people is a solved problem with several good vendors. Finding the right people, persuading them and keeping them is where most programs die, usually around partner number eight. A tool that makes the finding step cheap moves the whole category forward, and it validates the direction we chose. Our own affiliate recruiting software is built around the same premise; the difference is in what we think "finding" should mean.
It also sets a price anchor. Partnero charges from $59 per month for a plan that includes discovery, as checked on 2026-09-19. Rewardful and FirstPromoter sit at $49, $99 and $149 and up per month tiered by attributed revenue, without a discovery feature, as checked on 2026-09-18 [2][3]. PartnerStack is quote-based with a large B2B marketplace and platform-managed payouts, as checked on 2026-09-26 [4]. Once a $59 plan includes AI affiliate discovery, nobody can charge a four-figure retainer for the same list again.
Where AI affiliate discovery stops
Three limits became clear after a few days of use. None of them are bugs. They follow from the design choice of doing discovery per brand, inside one brand's account.
The partner it finds has no account and no history
When the tool surfaces a newsletter author for you, that author is a row in your list. If a second brand on the same platform runs discovery next week and finds the same author, she is a fresh row in their list too. Nothing carries over: not the fact that she replied to you, not the fact that she joined, not the fact that she drove eleven paying customers in her first month. Each brand starts from zero with the same person, and the person gets the same cold email from each of them.
It shows who could promote you, not who already has
A scored list of candidates is a prediction. The strongest signal in partner recruiting is not a relevance score; it is a track record. A creator who has already converted customers for a product in your category is worth more than ten who match the topic. Per-brand discovery cannot see that history because it lives inside other brands' accounts, if it exists at all.
No link to what AI assistants are recommending
The content a recruited partner produces is whatever they would have produced anyway: a review, a listicle, a comparison. Whether that page answers a question buyers are actually asking an AI assistant, and whether the assistant will ever cite it, is not part of the loop. For a SaaS brand in 2026 that is the question that decides whether the content earns commission for three years or disappears in a month.
What we do differently
We made three different choices, and we also have one honest gap compared with Partnero today. The short version: we treat the partner as the unit, not the brand. Every design decision below follows from asking what happens to the same person when the fifth brand finds them, and whether the fifth brand should have to start from a cold email again.
- Network first. A partner on RelayWonder has one account across every brand, one balance per currency, and an aggregate track record that any brand can see when deciding whether to invite them: how many programs, how long active, conversions in the last 90 days. Being found by a second brand does not reset anything.
- Campaigns start from AI-search gaps. Through the InsightWonder integration a brand sees which buyer questions AI assistants answer with a competitor or with nobody, and turns a gap into a content campaign with a brief, a bounty per delivered piece and a commission. The content produced is the page that is missing, and the delivered URL is checked for AI citations afterwards.
- Free tier and no percentage. Free up to $1,000 per month of partner-driven revenue, $49 to $10,000, $129 to $50,000, custom above. We never take a cut of commission and partners never pay.
- The gap: our open-web search sources are not connected yet. Today Hunter searches partners already in the network. Partnero's discovery crawls the open web now. If you have zero partners and need a cold list this week, Partnero has it running and we say so on our comparison page.

The arithmetic of recruiting
Here is why the track-record point is not philosophical. Suppose outreach to a cold candidate converts to a joined, active partner about one time in twenty, which is a typical range we see in our own small programs rather than an industry statistic. A list of 200 scored candidates then yields roughly 10 active partners. If each active partner drives an average of two paying customers per month on a $100 plan with 25% recurring commission, that is 20 new customers per month and $500 per month of new commission liability, growing as renewals stack.
Now suppose the same 200 names could be filtered by whether they have already converted customers for any brand in your category. In our network data the conversion from invitation to active partner for people with a visible track record is several times higher than for cold candidates, though our sample is small and we will publish numbers when they mean something. Even at two times, the same effort yields 20 active partners instead of 10, and they are the partners who already know how to sell software. The list is not the asset. The history is.
On sending from Gmail
Partnero's choice to send through a connected Gmail account is the right one, and we want to be explicit that we agree with it. Mail from a shared sending domain performs badly with partners, who are pitched constantly and filter on the sender first. Google Workspace limits a standard account to a few thousand outgoing messages per day, with lower practical limits for cold mail before reputation suffers [5], which is more than enough for a personalised sequence and far too few for a blast, which is the point. We generate drafts from your template and the partner's data and you paste them into your own mailbox; connecting the mailbox so the paste step disappears is on our list, and sending from our domain is not and never will be.
What to choose this week
- You have no partners and no list, and you need cold candidates now: Partnero, and come back when our search sources are live.
- You have an existing program on Stripe and want tracking, ledger and payouts with no percentage and a free tier: RelayWonder today.
- You care about AI-search visibility and want content campaigns that target the questions assistants are answering with competitors: RelayWonder with InsightWonder.
- You sell B2B at enterprise scale and want platform-managed payouts and a large marketplace: PartnerStack, quote-based.
We would rather send you to a competitor for a week than have you discover a missing feature on day three. The partner network only works if brands trust what we say about it, including about the parts that are not done.
FAQ
Is AI affiliate discovery the same as a partner network?
No. Discovery produces a list of candidates for one brand, from the open web, each time you run it. A partner network is a shared pool of partners with one account, one balance and a track record that every brand can see. Discovery helps you find people; a network helps you find the right people and keeps what you learn about them.
Does RelayWonder have open-web AI discovery today?
Not yet. Our Hunter search covers partners already in the network. Open-web search sources are being connected, and the screen says so in plain language rather than showing a dead button. If you need a cold list this week, Partnero has it.
Why not just copy the Partnero feature?
We will add open-web search, but we think the ranking should be driven by track record and by AI-search gaps, not by topical relevance alone. Copying the feature without the network behind it would give every brand the same cold list.
Does Partnero take a percentage of commissions?
Its public pricing page lists flat monthly plans from $59 as checked on 2026-09-19 and does not state a percentage. RelayWonder states 0% on every plan explicitly, with a free tier up to $1,000 per month of partner-driven revenue.
Can a partner who joined through Partnero also join RelayWonder?
Yes. Partners are not exclusive to any platform. A partner creates one RelayWonder account, applies to brands in the marketplace, and keeps one balance per currency across all of them.
